🎯 Essex Super Series Summer Grand Prix – Week 1 Match Report 🎯
The inaugural Essex Super Series Summer Grand Prix is officially underway, and what a fantastic opening night it proved to be!
With 28 players battling it out for crucial ranking points, the action delivered exactly what we’d hoped for. Competitive matches, plenty of drama, some excellent darts and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the evening.

🏆 Rob Good Claims Opening Night Glory
When the dust settled, it was Rob Good who became the first-ever Summer Grand Prix weekly champion.
Rob may be the first to admit he wasn’t at his absolute best throughout the league phase, but champions find ways to win. Despite a couple of close calls with matches that could have gone either way he secured enough victories to put himself in contention before stepping things up when it mattered most.
In the semi-finals, Rob showed exactly why he’s one of the strongest players in the competition, producing a superb 13-dart leg alongside two 180s to book his place in the final.
Waiting for him was Chris Wells, who produced one of the stories of the evening.

🔥 Wellsy’s Incredible Run
Chris didn’t even qualify automatically for the knockout stages.
After finding himself involved in the Nine Dart Shootout for the final qualification places, he battled his way through and then went on a remarkable run all the way to the final.
It was a brilliant effort from Chris, who grew stronger with every round before eventually falling just short in a closely contested final.
🏆 Winner: Rob Good (£30)
🥈 Runner-Up: Chris Wells (£10)

👏 Special Mention – Nick Stevens
Although he doesn’t currently lead the standings, Nick Stevens deserves a special mention after producing some of the most consistent darts of the evening.
Nick finished with a strong record in the league phase 4/5 wins and was extremely close to making it 5/5. If he maintains that level of performance, he’ll be right in the mix for a Finals Night place.
